About Emil

When I try to put words to my art – the colors I use, the expressions I paint, and the emotions I aim to evoke – I’m reminded of how difficult it is to describe something that has mostly existed inside my own mind.

My work is personal, emotional, and honest. It often explores themes like death, mental vulnerability, and the fragile nature of the human psyche. But just as important as the darkness is the contrast – flowers, colors, and calm faces that offer the viewer a sense of hope, acceptance, and peace. I don’t aim to shock or frighten, but to invite reflection and recognition.

My paintings are like a visual diary – a way of telling stories that are hard to express in words. I work figuratively and intuitively, and with each brushstroke, I try to offer a glimpse into the inner life – both my own and the one we share as a society. As part of my art portfolio as an independent artist, my works are also featured in this online gallery of original paintings, where I share both new and past pieces from my oil painting portfolio online.

After years of doubt and searching, I’ve found an artistic direction that feels true. Today, I stay faithful to myself, my story, and what I want to share with the world. My art is an expression of what it looks like to live with mental illness – not only during the struggle, but also in the acceptance and in life beyond it. Through my original oil paintings, I hope to create modern art that resonates with people, whether they are looking for art for home and office décor, or simply want to explore modern oil paintings with classical techniques.

All of my work is hand-painted in my atelier in Kolding, Denmark. If you’re looking to purchase original art, I invite you to explore my collection. Thank you for visiting my portfolio, and for being part of my ongoing journey.
